Before you start caring for patients in New Zealand we need to test your newly acquired New Zealand specific nursing theory. The contents of the lessons will include information regarding the Treaty of Waitangi, culturally safe practice, legislation which impacts upon nursing practice and an update on skills and practices commonly found within the nursing profession in New Zealand.
You will find some of your previous practice is different from that expected in New Zealand, and you will need to adjust to meet the needs of our practice expectations. The knowledge updating and MCQ test can be completed before you travel to New Zealand. Revise the knowledge as you see fit and answer the multiple-choice questions. You have 3 hours to complete 80 questions. The pass mark is 70% or higher.
You have one option to re-sit. If you need more attempts than this please contact us to explain your learning needs. This will attract additional fees Once you have passed this module, pay for the New Zealand nursing practice module and you will be given access to it. You will have one calendar year from your first test (in the basic theory module) to get to New Zealand, complete the OSCE testing and clinical placement activities.
